St. Martinville, La., Producer Loses License After Felony Conviction

May 10, 2006

A St. Martinville, La. insurance producer was issued a cease and desist order and summary suspension of her insurance licenses subsequent to her conviction for a felony involving dishonesty or breach of trust in violation of Louisiana insurance laws.

Pamela Marie Thibodeaux, 46, was served by Department of Insurance Fraud Unit Investigators with a C&D, summary suspension of her licenses and notice of proposed actions, barring her from conducting the business of insurance in the state of Louisiana.

This action comes after Thibodeaux continued in the business of insurance after pleading guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Submit False Information in Order to Register to Vote in United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. She was sentenced on Jan.19, 2006, to three years’ probation and was fined $3,500.

Department of Insurance records show that Thibodeaux had a business office at 400 South Main, Ste. A, St. Martinville.

The department emphasized that the current action against Thibodeaux in no way involves or reflects upon any insurance or other businesses that may be located at that same address.

Department records list Thibodeaux’s mailing address as P.O. Box 500, St. Martinville, and her residence address as 1016 Academy Dr., St. Martinville. Records also show Thibodeaux held a property/casualty license from March 1987 until the current action, and held a life/health license from February 2000 until May 1, 2006.
