In Texas, accident records only show names, addresses and DL numbers. All this is of public record, as are accident reports taken by the police departments. Privacy laws cover driving records (CLUE/MVR Reports), but not the actual police reports.

How can just anyone get a copy of a police report? It contains alot of information about the persons involved that could easily be used to steal their identity. This should be included under the current privacy laws if it is (obviously) not. Another good job done by the persons we vote into office to serve us!!!

What states besides Florida have laws in force or pending which would protect against this type of fraud? Are there any similar laws in the state of Illinois?

Here are some of the Accident Chasers in my area that have been calling from the day i had the minor accident. Let’s all give them a few calls.

    210-415-4153 (a real jerk)
    915-629-7246
    210-256-0599
    210-330-0882
    210-584-0495
    210-298-3344
    210-699-6037
    210-699-1002
    210-921-1430
    210-223-3787

I started receiving these calls at 8am this morning and it is now 1145am. Calls still coming in.

Is there no law to stop this outrageous activity and invasion of privacy.

If your number is on TX. & ntl. do not call list, probably can file on them for telemarketing.

As an adjuster & investigator, how can I volunteer to go undercover and catch a few of these crooks? Get the police to dummy up a report and wait for the calls. Go to some of these and let the courts take care of them after I get them on tape and get a false diagnosis. It is just as bad at Parkland Hospital where the vultures come in after a car or construction accident and lie to the injured person and get them to sign a document that they are a witness, then later the victim finds out he has signed permisssion for the lawyer to represent him in a lawsuit. It took one victim I know of several months to get that agreement rescinded because he wanted a settlement, not a lawsuit, and told them he did not need a lawyer.
