Texas Workers’ Comp Seminar Offered in Round Rock on April 19

Texas State University Small Business Development Center will sponsor a one-day educational seminar on Workers’ Compensation 101 and Return To Work presented by the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 19, 2006.

The seminar will take place at the Texas State University Round Rock Higher Education Center, 1555 Chandler Road in Round Rock.

The cost is $55 per person and the deadline to register is April 14, 2006.

The seminar includes a comprehensive overview of the Texas workers’ compensation system and discussion of the Return-to-Work program. This seminar will provide information on the following subjects:

–Overview of recent legislative changes in the workers’ compensation system;
–Rights and responsibilities of system participants;
–Functions of the Office of Injured Employee Counsel;
–Functions and services provided by the Workers’ Health and Safety and Compliance and Practices programs;
–Examination of medical and income benefits in a claim and the process for resolving disputes associated with those benefits; and
–How to successfully return employees to work after a workplace injury.

Course participants can receive 6.5 hours continuing education credits applicable to their Adjusters Type 3 license.
