Well, thereyago, Hal…makes good sense to carry car insurance and be \”legal\”, huh? Or, maybe you should just work from home on the internet….or catch a ride with someone that IS insured.
Driving is a PRIVILEGE – and NOT a RIGHT…brought to you by YOUR legislators.
This is first of all a capitalist society, not a socialist nor a communist society. Secondly, driving is not a right, it is a privilege. I hate it when you liberals try to think that a drivers license is a right. You know what I think about them not being able to afford? I don\’t care. My parents worked hard once they came here and they did not have a car at the beginning here in IL. Now they do with the accompanying insurance.
Don\’t get upset. I\’m only explaining that it\’s a more complex answer than \”only people with money can travel very far\”. This issue isn\’t rich vs. poor.
I\’ve insured people who have lost coverage because of an honest billing mess up. The post office doesn\’t take responsibity for not delivering the mail. If you mailed your payment then get your late notice you are most likely to think you are ok since you just mailed it. That isn\’t always the case.
Is the liberal the one that says \”go make a buck and improve your finances\”.
Or the one who says if you have money you can go make a buck and improve your finances.
Or the one who says get some money for insurance then you can go make a buck and improve your finances.

Car dealer inventory is one of several \”commercial\” related areas that will likely need \”tuning\” as the Texas Insurance Insurance Verification Program (TIVP) evolves. Initally, one of the major focuses will be to get the various state data matching with the data submitted by insurers.
To learn more about the details of the Invitation To Negotiate (ITN) that the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) posted late last year go to this link and look for \”SB 1670 program\”:
Besides the electronic database system there are other components that include an Interactive Voice Response system, a Call Center and mailing services for non-compliance notification.
TDI should be announcing what company they have selected to construct and run the IVP soon. Very soon.
The various Texas cities that have implemented \”uninsured\” ordinances are hoping that the IVP will do away with their officers having to make phone calls to check coverage. Which is time consuming and becomes a problem after 5:00 PM because the insurers/agents are closed.
Hopefully the Texas IVP will become the best system in the country.
Many of the cars impounded will be worth less than impounding fees if they are not bailed out early. If I remember the Texas statute the cities must keep the cars for six months before auctioning them off so the owner has time to bail out the car.
When the unredemed cars hit the auction the increased stock of used cars will depreciate wholesale prices.
What are the cities going to do when the money recieved from car sales is less than the impounding fees?
Something to chew on : since Progressive is the largest writer of auto insurance through IA\’S why not cut a deal with them to insure all the bums, surely with the commission they pay, they can absorb the claim expenses
