Svendson to Lead Deloitte Financial Advisory Services’ Mid-America Region

Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP announced that Midwest regional managing partner, Don M. Svendson, has been named Mid-America regional managing partner. Svendson, based in Dallas, succeeds Edward Lynch, partner, who recently transitioned to Deloitte FAS’ risk management group.

In his new role, Svendson, oversees the integrated service lines of Forensic & Dispute Services, Reorganization Services, Valuation Services and Deloitte & Touche Corporate Finance LLC. He also serves as Mid-America Forensic & Dispute Services practice unit leader, and is responsible for managing a broad range of financial investigations for private and public companies, and various levels of government and private individuals, often in response to investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002.

Prior to joining Deloitte & Touche LLP in 1997, Svendson had a 26-year career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), culminating as the Officer in Charge, Economic Crime Branch. At the RCMP, Svendson managed and conducted numerous criminal investigations involving fraud, theft, secret commissions, breach of trust, commodities and futures trading, stock market manipulation, corruption of government officials, money laundering, gambling, drugs and violent crimes.

Svendson received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Alberta, and earned certificates in General Police, Specialized Police and Advanced Police Science from the Canadian Police College. He also is a graduate of the Canadian Securities Institute and attended numerous courses and seminars on financial crime investigations, drug investigations, documentary evidence preparation, computer crimes, organized crime, intelligence analysis and gambling investigations.

Svendson is a member of several professional associations, including the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Institute of Internal Auditors, Turnaround Management Association, RCMP Veteran’s Association and the American Society for Industrial Security.
