Ark. Workers’ Comp 2006 Education Conference to be Held in March

Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission announced that its Annual Educational Conference, being held for the first time in conjunction with the Arkansas Self-Insurers Association’s 2006 Spring Fling, is scheduled this year for March 29-31.

Alan McClain, AWCC chief executive officer, explained that “by combining both events, the audiences for both groups will enjoy the very best of what each offers.”

He said the conference, which will take place at the Hot Springs Convention Center, has opportunities lined up for learning about the latest developments in Arkansas workers’ compensation and for networking at several social functions with other stakeholders in the ever changing field.

The Embassy Suites and Austin Hotel in Hot Springs, attached to the Convention Center, are accepting reservations and have a convention rate. The famous Arlington Hotel, a short driving distance from the Convention Center, will handle the overflow and feature a convention rate.

The convention rates are in effect until February 8. When contacting the hotels, mention the conference code “ASI” in order to receive the special rates. Numbers and prices for each facility:
–Embassy Suites: $119 single/double, $124 triple, and $129 quad rate (800-362-2779 or 501-624-9200);
–Austin Hotel: $78 single/double/triple/quad rate, $150 one bedroom suite, $225 two bedroom suite (877-623-6697); and
–Arlington Hotel: $76 single, $86 double (800-626-9768).

Among the several recreational activities are a luncheon; a reception; an Exhibitor Jeopardy with prizes for attendees visiting the exhibit area; and the third annual Golf Tournament, to be held this year on March 29 at the Belvedere Country Club. A four-person scramble will be this year’s format after a hamburger luncheon at 12:00 noon, followed by a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. Team registration is $280. Individuals can golf in the tournament for $70. Prizes will be awarded at the conference luncheon on Thursday.
