AIA Says Insurers Are Prepared for Hurricane Katrina

With Hurricane Katrina bearing down on Biloxi, Miss., New Orleans, La. and the surrounding area, the property/casualty insurance industry has mobilized, and stands ready to assist hurricane victims recover as quickly as possible, according to the American Insurance Association.

Thousands of insurance claims adjusters are prepared to move immediately into hurricane-afflicted areas. These insurance company catastrophe teams will assist affected policyholders dealing with property losses, and will provide information about how to secure property against further losses in coming days.
