Dell Inc. Obtains OSHA Recognition for Safety

Dell Inc., Round Rock, Texas, has earned membership in the “Star” Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). A recognition ceremony was held at Dell’s corporate headquarters in Round Rock.

“Dell’s demonstrated excellence in effective safety and health management has resulted in OSHA’s VPP Star award at seven separate locations,” said OSHA Regional Administrator John Miles in Dallas. “Their outstanding efforts include maintaining an injury and illness rate 79 percent below the national average for their industry.”

Dell is a diversified information technology supplier, selling a comprehensive portfolio of products and services directly to customers worldwide. The company employs about 61,400 workers around the globe. The locations receiving the Star certification include Round Rock Buildings 1,2,3,5,7,8 and Parmer South Building l.

The Voluntary Protection Programs recognize and promote effective workplace safety and health management. About 1,300 work sites throughout the U.S have earned OSHA’s highest recognition as participants in the VPP. More than 280 industries are represented within the programs. VPP participants typically achieve injury and illness rates more than 50 percent below their respective industry’s average rates.
