Until Texas has a mandatory WC reguirement, all the Legislators, Insureds and Carriers and just P__ing into the wind. No one is smart enough to see that everyone is getting it stuck to them.
I am continually amazed about the injured worker’s ‘right’ to choose his treating doctor in a program in which the worker pays NOTHING. In health insurance situations (where the worker does pay a premium for the coverage) the insurance carrier has a list of approved doctors from which the patient chooses. If it’s OK in health situations why not under WC??? It also concerns me that there is a ‘push’ for mandatory WC. Most of the other states that have mandatory WC ALSO have big problems with the WC system. Why not concentrate on correcting the problems with WC first, then employers will voluntarily participate in a system that is fair to both employers and employees.
