    Mary,
Maybe your injury wasn’t work related. The problem with some Texans they think well since I have a job let them pay for my disease of life problem! Hello…start taking responsiblity for your lack of exercise, obesity and poor health & hereity! It is not your employers fault that you ran to a quack chiro and he sent you to quacko (Dr. E.S. in Houston the famous ortho that has killed – How many Texans looking for a high impairment rating?) Well, sorry you can’t have your 6 surgeries so everyone can feel sorry for you. If you’re a real Texas you should have gone to a reputable Physical Therapist and/or orthopedic surgeon and taken their advise. I don’t know a nero or ortho that would put anyone through 3 surgeries. When they told you there is nothing they can do – that is when you pull yourself up by your bootstraps and go on with your life!!!!

Unfortunately there are bad apples in all professions, but it is not fare to call chiropractors quacks. I could say the same about many therapists and medical doctors. As a chiropractor I strive to help get patient’s well, and make appropriate referrals when necessary. I have seen many people over the 18 years of practice injured both at home and at work, and it does seem odd at times that people who get injured at home sometimes get well faster and are satisfied with less treatment. Injured workers seem to have the attitude that the system owes them, but this will all change when Networks are started. Then the injured workers will certainly have less choice of doctors, and clinics that promote unwellness, off work, will not be able to see the patient’s looking for a handout. My problem with Networks as they will certainly exclude good doctors, chiropractors, and therapists.

    Attention Cindy

ARE YOU FOR REAL. I work for all types of providers and Mary’s story is far from false. There are many legimately injured workers that do not receive adequate care. They go to PT’s and MD’s. You need to do a little research on the subject before you lump everyone in the same category.

Yes, Iris I am for real. I deal with employees that file workers’ comp everyday in Texas. Are you for real? Reality is Ms. Mary is a whiner. She is probably hooked on pain RX and her money has stopped coming in and now she has had so many surgeries that she most likely didn’t need and has filed for permanent disability because all she does is sit home and watch soap operas & Opra all day and has no life so she only has to concentrate on her pathetic useless life that gives her an excuse not to work anymore! I see people that don’t want to work and want the system to take care of them everyday, Iris. Just the other day I had to deal with a young woman who claimed she fell on her buttocks (unwitness of course – she was written up 2 hours earlier and was given one more chance before she was to be termed)while she was being seen in the ER was calling an attorney on the phone. She is also a young lady that gets a pell grant to go to school and is a unmarried mother on food stamps living with moma. Did I mention that she has had 2 previous mva’s and claiming the same injuries for a fall on her buttocks (head, neck, shoulders, upper and lower back. Go figure! So, Iris if you think being a bleeding heart is going to change the work comp problem in Texas you’re WRONG!

I am definately not a bleeding heart. There is gross abuse on all three sides of the comp system. Providers, Carriers and the injured workers. There is no way to “lump” all injured workers in the same category. Yes it is difficult for patients that actually have injuries to get treated because of the misuse. There should be a way to monitor the bad providers that give substandard care as well as the insurance companies that deny care unnecessarily. We are all in agreement that the system has to be re-done. BUT ONE HAS TO REMEMBER THERE ARE INJURED WORKERS OUT THERE THAT ARE ACTUALLY INJURED AND HAVE TO BE TAKEN CARE OF.

cindy, l only wish you could spend 1 day living the hell that has become my life. l have been to see the “company” doctor at my request because l don’t want to live like this. his advise was serjury, yet the company immedeatly began kicking their feet and screaming when their own doctor comfirmed the extent of my damage. this ploy on their part cost me an additional 8 months of living in severe pain, sleepless nights, and living below poverty level. true there are some out there working the system, as a matter of fact the other day l overheard a fellow patient in therapy bragging on his cell phone about the renovations he is personally preforming on his house. but there are so many of us out there who live in HELL daily, stareing at the walls waiting on the pompass asses who repeatedly deny us the treatment we need. you have no idea how hard it is to just keep on living. please WAKE UP! or at least say a prayer for our souls.

I hope someone can find out who Cindy D is and get her removed from dealing with workers comp victims, how dare her make a judgement on someone she doesn\’t know, but apparently most health care professionals involved with workers comp are that way, the words they know how to use best are go back to work or their is nothing we can do go back to work.
