AWCC to Hold Educational Conference Oct. 12 – 14

The Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission (AWCC) has scheduled its 18th annual Education Conference for Oct. 12-14, 2005, in Little Rock’s DoubleTree Hotel and the adjacent Robinson Convention Center.

Alan McClain, AWCC chief executive officer, has a staff committee working with him to plan the conference. Because of this year’s 85th Arkansas General Assembly Legislative Session, the conference schedule will be crowded with topics of concern to stakeholders in the workers’ compensation community.

In addition to legislation in ’05 concerning workers’ compensation, other topics will be explored. Conference details will be announced on the AWCC Web site throughout the year. Last year’s attendees will be sent a registration packet early this summer.

McClain said his study of end-of-conference evaluations convinced him that “companies sending representatives are most interested in learning about trends, challenges, and fresh approaches to the workers’ comp world.”

He has instructed his staff to expand its coverage of medical, safety and ethical concerns.

More specific information and registration sheets will be available later on the commission’s Web site at www.awcc.state.ar.us.

Parties who want to be placed on the mailing list for the registration packet may contact AWCC’s Support Service Division at (501) 682-3930 or 800-622-4472. They also can go to the “Contact Us” button on the Web site and click onto anyone listed in that division.

It will be possible to register on-line at this site later in the year. For developments, be sure to check back to www.awcc.state.ar.us and click either “What’s New” or the “Conferences” buttons.
