I really cannot understand why in the world anyone cannot assume risk these days? If you are so scared of getting hit by a coconut in a Mardi Gras parade, then stay away from the festivities.

What next? Cancellation of Christmas parades because no one wants to get hit by flying candy. Give me a break!

WHAT ABOUT THE MARSHMALLOW MOON PIES? With cellophane wrappers and goodness only knows how many calories!

AND WHAT ABOUT THOSE BEADS? Anyone who’s ever been near an over-zealous bead hound knows of the many risks related with those treasure seekers!

And what about the possible heart attack risk from viewing one of the other traditional Mardi Gras activity (the lifting of the shirt)?

…maybe warning labels should be attached and have the recipients sign waivers?

I’d like to know who the carrier is? Why not send the underwriter(s) to Mardi Gras for a festive time and they may quickly forget the “risks.” Or, they may just decline further coverage in view of all that they see.
