I cant believe the employer was only fined $500!! Anybody who is either so reckless or stupid as to allow an unlicensed employee this kind of “free reign” should be more harshly punished, especially when this action caused consumers harm. Our industry’s reputation suffers greatly when things like this happen and the regulatory agencies do little to deter it.

In response to Insurance Lady, if you think about it I think he knew darn well what he was doing by having her sign/forge the signatures, that way if he DID get caught then he would only be fined and not lose his license, only an employee, just think about it . . .

I have no doubt that he knew. What shocks me is the lack of accountability by the Dept of Insurance. Seems to me that someone needs to hold the agency principals responsible for the way they choose to run their agency, including the hiring of unlicensed personnel and allowing them to work without a license. He, more so than the employee, should be held responsible because he already has a license and has sworn to uphold the terms of that license. It disgusting what this guy got away with.
