NAIC’s “Together for Literacy” Recognizes Literacy Alliance of Greater New Orleans

December 6, 2004

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) announced it named the Literacy Alliance of Greater New Orleans as the fourth recipient of the 2004 “Together for Literacy” program as part of the NAIC’s Winter National Meeting currently being held in New Orleans.

Established in April 2001, the adult literacy organization serves a five-parish area including Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard and St. Tammany parishes.

“Together for Literacy” was established in January as the theme for the NAIC’s 2004 charitable program, designed to benefit literacy organizations in each of the communities hosting the NAIC’s quarterly meetings, this year held in New York, San Francisco, Anchorage and New Orleans.

This marks the second year the NAIC has spearheaded programs to benefit local non-profit, charitable organizations in the cities hosting its national meetings.
