My personal contacts in the military (including my oldest son and a co-worker/reservist) echo the commissioner’s comments, ie. More electricity, clean water, schools, jobs and basic freedoms in Iraq than ever before in that nation’s history but our biased national media would rather sensationalize the negative to support their own political agenda. Between CBS News and the NY Times, we might as well be living behind the iron curtain.

Seeing as how FoxNews touts itself as fair and balanced, and they seem to have the numbers in viewship, I think this argument about the liberal media no longer has any validity. No news network is as right wing ultra conservative as Fox and they are definitely as guilty of reporting in a biased fashion. The answer is for people to get their information from many different sources and weigh it carefully. The truth is usually somewhere between the right and the left.

If media such as the New York Times and CBS had reported the news instead of trying to promote a political agenda, there would be no need for Fox news. Those of us who are not ultra liberal have gravitated to Fox because we have become disgusted with the so called mainstream media. Long live Fox News!!!

Obviously, the point has been missed that the truth is somewhere between the ultra conservative right wing and the liberal left wing and that people should not rely on one source for their information, whether it be Fox or CBS. Why does one assume that what Fox News is reporting isn’t slanted in a direction favoring their own political agenda?

FOX News is fair and balanced, for the most part. They do a very good job of (1) presenting facts without spin, and (2) of allowing equal time for opposing arguments.

FOX New is a necessity, after years of obviously biased “news” programs that didn’t even pretend to be objective. As far as trustworthiness, I rate FOX News as much more credible than any other major media news source.

David, you also missed Daphne’s excellent point about weighing all of the sources. If you listen to only one source (CBS or Fox), you are as biased as the news they are reporting. And yes, Fox is as bad as CBS only in the other direction.

Also, who believes everything the news tells them? Investigate things and present facts and make eductated decisions about what you “believe” rather than taking everything anyone tells you at face value.

Daphne, thanks for your excellent point!
