Baton Rouge Producer Suspended

September 30, 2004

Louisiana Commissioner of Insurance Robert Wooley announced that a Baton Rouge, La., insurance producer was issued a cease and desist order, along with a summary suspension of his insurance license, due to allegations of fraudulent activity.

Louisiana Department of Insurance fraud investigators issued the C&D and summary suspension to Tauheed Singleton, 24, of Baton Rouge.

The department’s cease and desist order alleges that Singleton was in violation of the Louisiana Insurance Code. One of the most significant charges is that he included false and fraudulent information on applications he prepared and forwarded to insurance companies on behalf of at least 36 individuals.

LDI records show that Singleton was licensed to sell life and health and property and casualty insurance from early 2003 until the current suspension.

Anyone who suspects that someone has committed any kind of insurance fraud is urged to contact the Department of Insurance Fraud Unit, statewide, toll-free, at (800) 259-5300 or at (225) 342-4956. Calls will be held confidential upon request.
