I believe the donation is to the parish’s economic developement group, not the state. People will buy anything if the price is right. To comment that they just want to give it away so they do not have to pay taxes is very short-sighted.
XSF, I do not know how you can construe the prior comment as being “very short-sighted. Unless I am mistaken he/she found skepticism in State Farm’s offer. I also must agree. We live in a society where “nothing is for free.” I also am under the impression that State Farm will benefit in some sort of fashion if this deal goes through.
If they really wanted to be a good Samaritan they would not be termination people from their workforce.
Also, the fact that “people will buy anything if the price is right,” is irrelavant to said comment. State Farm is not a crack-head; they are simply looking to unload a building for pennies. They want the best possible deal out of any transaction.
