Okla. Contractor to Pay Consumer Restitution

An Oklahoma home repair contractor was sentenced this week after pleading guilty in Oklahoma County District Court to five counts of home repair fraud, Attorney General Drew Edmondson said.

Scott Robert Ducharme, 45, was sentenced to five-years incarceration on each of four felony counts and a one-year suspended sentence on a misdemeanor count. Ducharme, president and general manager of Southwest Roofing, will serve each sentence concurrently, and all but 90 days of the felony sentences were suspended. He also was ordered to pay almost $27,400 restitution, as well as fines and court costs, and to perform 40 hours of community service.

“We filed charges April 6 after hearing from Oklahomans who said they had paid Ducharme for repairs he did not complete,” Edmondson said. “The restitution will be divided among eight Oklahoma victims whose losses range from $310 to $7,500.”

The attorney general’s office also filed two felony counts of home repair fraud against Ducharme April 12 in Cleveland County District Court. Those charges are still pending.

A lawsuit also was filed in Oklahoma County District Court by Southwestern Roofing Inc. to stop Ducharme from operating under the name Southwest Roofing, and from using deceptive tactics to make consumers believe they are dealing with Southwestern Roofing.
