IIAT Gearing Up for Annual Joe Vincent Seminar

The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas announced that more than 350 of the state’s most progressive and influential agency principals and managers will gather for its Joe Vincent Management Seminar Jan. 25 – 27, 2004, at the Renaissance Austin Hotel.

One of the country’s top management conferences for independent agents, the seminar is named in honor of longtime IIAT member and past president Joe E. Vincent.

The conference begins Jan. 25 with a bonus Ethics session at 1 p.m. followed by the annual industry update “Preview 2004.” The opening day’s activities finish with a welcome reception.

Monday’s general session gets underway at 8:30 a.m. with a panel discussion titled “Are We Making Money Now?” Four industry experts will evaluate the state of the agency system today. Keynote speaker John Powers follows the panel with a look at how to keep passion in your work and inspire others by example. “Love Who You Are, Love What You Do,” presents a humorous take on the premise that inspiration begins at home.

Monday afternoon workshops feature a series of agency management topics including “Building Agency Values for Perpetuation,” John Wepler, Marsh-Berry; “Managing New Producer Training,” Ed Lamont, Lamont Consulting Group; What’s New in Producer Compensation, Kevin Stipe, Reagan Consulting; Doing Business in Real Time,” Steve Anderson, SteveAnderson.com and “Protecting Your Agency With Employment Contracts,” Michael Jones, Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons.

Workshops continue Tuesday morning with “Managing Automation System Conversions,” Kel Plasket Nettles Consulting Network; “Managing New Producer Training,” Ed Lamont, Lamont Consulting Group; “Sharing Agency Management – Individual sessions for Small and Large Agencies”; “Working Smart with MGAs,” panel discussion moderated by Baron Garcia, Oklahoma General Agency.

Registration fees for the Joe Vincent Management Seminar are: $225 for IIAT member agents; $195 for additional attendees from member agencies; $175 for first-time attendees from member agencies; and $330 for non-members.
