FRISS Appoints Product Development Leader
Dan Gumpright

FRISS, an international provider of risk analytics services to property and casualty insurers, has appointed Dan Gumpright as global vice president of products.

Gumpright will drive the company’s development teams to strengthen fraud indicators and artificial intelligence techniques such as predictive models, network analysis, and text mining, the Chicago-based company said.

Gumpright previously worked for Truepic, developing the company’s insurance technology division. Before then, he spent nearly a decade at BAE Systems, where he held the position of head of global insurance product management. He was responsible for product design, strategy, revenue, margin, and overall product performance.

Gumpright speaks regularly as a at insurance conferences worldwide, including the International Association of Special Investigation Units annual conference in 2018 and 2019. He has written for numerous online publications including the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud and was recently interviewed for a column on insurance fraud in The Times a national newspaper in the United Kingdom, FRISS said in a press release.

Gumpright received a post-graduate certificate in business administration from The Open University Business School, according to his Linkedin page.

Cross Country Adjusting Hires Business Development VP

Cross Country Adjusting, national independent claims adjusting service, has hired Melissa Callahan as vice president of business development.

Callahan brings 17 years of business and client development experience in the insurance field, the Pageland, S.C.-based company said in a press release. She previously worked as a client service manager for Sdii Global Corp., a national engineering firm.

Callahan has also worked as a senior consultant for Coastal Technical Services and as an account executive for Seibels, which provides policy administration, claims administration, accounting and reporting, and technology and cybersecurity services, according to her Linkedin page.

Cross Country Adjusting provides third-party administration services, field adjusting for daily and catastrophe property claims, managed repair network and a virtual inspector program.

Freeborn & Peters Adds to Insurance Recovery Team
Sarah M. Anderson

Attorney Sarah M. Anderson had joined the Freeborn & Peters as an associate in the law firm’s insurance and reinsurance recovery team in Tampa.

Anderson previously served as a law clerk to Judge James D. Whittemore and Judge Timothy J. Corrigan in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the firm said in a press release. She also served as the tobacco judicial law clerk in the Middle District of Florida and was responsible for the district’s docket of Engle progeny cases against the tobacco companies over injuries suffered from smoking.

Anderson received her Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center and her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University, where she was a member of the women’s lacrosse team. In her free time, she enjoys practicing yoga, attending concerts, and following Ohio State football, according to the firm’s website.

Anderson was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2011.
