    The researches appear to have evaluated damages as related to mediation settlements. If so, a factor may be that most mediators and attorneys are more comfortable with economic damage values. If there is a defined economic damage, then there is a tendency for the mediator to weigh the damage value more heavily on special damages. Pain and suffering is a more arbitrary value. If there is no defined damage to base the emotional damage value from, the value is less easy to determine.
