Value Based Contracting will not work in the work comp industry because there would be no way to control benefits and costs between carriers and or service providers. In my opinion, it would open the door to significant insurance fraud.

I better approach would be to move the medical benefit portion of work comp into traditional health care. Employers would receive significant premium reductions and work comp rates could be reduced by as much as 60%. The only requirement would be for employers to provide full health care benefits to their employees. There are already significant cost controls within the heath care industry. Also, this would allow employers to have greater control over the health and wellness of their employees and their families. It would be a win/win for everyone.
