Consumer Groups Want Congress to Carefully Consider Driverless Car Rules

    Adopting some limitations, daytime use only for example, for use of autonomous vehicles would begin to give additional real world data for the developers to work with. As they began to gain more expertise, it could be expanded to night time use when there is no precipitation.

    Ultimately we will see the acceleration of technology make autonomous driving viable. I think its going to be a while though. There are just too many variables to factor in even with an abundance of sensors and inputs.

    If you see the automakers creating their own insurance coverage to take the risk of autonomous vehicles, you will know that technology is to the point that this is will work in the real world.
