So we have to pay more for a car with this blocking technology because drivers don’t have the self-discipline not to text while driving? Ridiculous.

Chuck, I think you are looking at the issue from the wrong angle. Any cost of blocking technology would be minimal. On the opposite side, the cost of injuries and accidents is a huge cost to everyone. From a standpoint of lost time, lost productivity, property damage, bodily injury, lost wages, and potential disability, needless accidents and injuries present a tremendous burden on communities. If we can prevent the tremendous losses from distracted driving injuries and deaths with a simple use of technology, it is clearly a good idea.

MAYBE MORE POLICE ENFORCEMENT OF CURRENT LAWS WOULD HELP. FREQUENTLY I HAVE WITNESSED A DRIVER WATCHING A YOU TUBE VIDEO, WITH PHONE MOUNTED ON THE DASH, AS THEY WEAVE DOWN THE ROAD, AND THE POLICE CAR JUST PASSES BY WITHOUT ACTION. MORE POLICE ENFORCEMENT OF ALL DISTRACTED DRIVING IS NEEDED, INCLUDING READING
THE FOLDED NEWSPAPER, PUTTING ON MAKEUP, ETC, ETC
