Robusto To Assume Role Of CNA’s Chairman And CEO

CNA Financial Corporation announced that Dino E. Robusto will assume the role of chairman and chief executive officer on November 21, 2016, succeeding Thomas F. Motamed, who is retiring after eight years at the helm of CNA.

Last November CNA announced that Robusto would be joining the company in late 2016.

Willis Towers Watson Confirms Departure of Casserley as President, Deputy CEO

Willis Towers Watson, a leading global advisory, broking and solutions company, confirmed that Dominic Casserley, president and deputy CEO, will be leaving the company when his employment agreement ends on December 31, 2016.

Casserley joined the Willis Group in January 2013 as CEO, a position he held until January 2016, when Willis and Towers Watson merged and he took on his present position. From 2013 to 2015, Willis advanced the core organic “Analytical Broker” and “Connecting Willis” strategies, introduced industry specialization, deepened its broking capabilities and re-engineered many core processes. In parallel, the company expanded inorganically further into healthcare advisory and brokerage, executed the ground breaking partnership with Miller in London, and completed the acquisition of Gras Savoye to create the leading franchise in France and Africa.

During the three years when Casserley was CEO, the total return to Willis shareholders was 58 percent. From January this year, at the newly merged Willis Towers Watson, Casserley was a member of the Board, co-led the integration process and was head of one of the global business segments, Investment Risk and Reinsurance (IRR).

Donegan Joins NCCI as Chief Regulatory Services Officer

NCCI, a source of workers’ compensation insurance information, announced that Susan Donegan has joined the company as the new chief regulatory services officer.

Donegan, who assumed the position on September 19, succeeds Helen Westervelt, who announced her retirement in January of this year. Westervelt remained at NCCI through the end of September to ensure a smooth transition.

Donegan and her team are responsible for developing companywide strategies to secure timely approvals of filing requests and workers compensation pricing programs in order to achieve corporate goals relating to loss costs adequacy, cost containment, residual market operating loss, Workers Compensation Insurance Plan filings, and regulatory customer satisfaction.

Most recently, she served as the commissioner at the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation, the state agency that supervises the insurance, captive insurance, banking and securities sectors in Vermont. Her career includes various leadership positions including counsel to the commissioner of insurance in Massachusetts and positions in the private practice of law in Boston and Amsterdam.

She has served on numerous insurance regulatory committees at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and the International Association of Insurance Supervisors. She was a member of the executive committees of both those organizations and held other committee leadership positions.

Donegan graduated from Vermont Law School with a JD and holds two L.L.M. master’s degrees—one in banking and financial services law and the other in European Union and international trade law.

RMS Strengthens Executive Team with Appointment of Steel

Catastrophe modeling firm RMS announced the appointment of Michael Steel to its executive team in the position of global head of Solutions. He will also chair the company’s Europe Leadership Council, and provide overall regional leadership to the RMS London and Zurich offices. His appointment reflects the company’s increased commitment to its clients in the global risk and insurance industry. He will lead teams with deep knowledge of insurance and reinsurance risk management practices to define and deliver high-value solutions.

Steel has more than 25 years of experience in risk and capital management gained in the insurance industry. Prior to joining RMS, he was the group chief risk officer at AXIS Capital. He joined AXIS Capital in 2008 following 12 years at Benfield (now Aon Benfield) where he had been a firector with Benfield Ltd and Benfield Advisory, chairman and founder of the ReMetrics team, global head of the Capital Markets Group and head of the Structured Products team. Prior to his tenure at Benfield, he was a leading member of Instrat, Sedgwick Group’s Analytics and Structured Products team. Steel currently serves as chairman of the Geneva Association’s CRO Network.
