I recently paid for purchased a vehicle. I paid $11,431.14 after tax and fees. I put $4,000 down= 7,431.14…3 weeks later a hail storm totaled my vehicle and the insurance told me I was getting $2,900 back (they took the deductible of already). SHould my insurance reimburse me more and , and include the tax and title fees i paid? I didn’t even get 3 weeks out of the vehicle.
I’m not a lawyer but had the experiences. Hire a public adjuster, not an attorney but an adjuster, they only charge 10% of recovery amount.
If you purchase it recently, you are entitled to that same amount or closer. Do a market comparison (same model and year from other dealers), ask for the title and tax to be reimbursed, and request a physical inspection.
Missing some fact here. More than likely the loss payee was paid in full for the amount owed to them, $7431.14, the remaining portion of the $4,000.00 put down as a down payment less the deductible would be the amount paid to the insured. Of course these numbers would vary given the deductible amounts and the market value of the vehicle, market value also takes into consideration the condition of the vehicle prior to the time of loss.

Do you have anything to cite or show ”Illinois also provides for reimbursement if a new vehicle is purchased or leased within 30days.”
Allstate adjuster tells me no sales tax need be reimbursed since they pay lien holder directly. Seems to contradict NYS law!
