I know of a couple people injured because they were trying to be safe and comply with OSHA style regulations. One was working on his own roof, so this will never show up on any statistic, but I was wondering if anyone keeps statistics on how many people get injured or killed in the process of setting up OSHA compliant equipment or due to the equipment itself. My friend, for example, tripped over the rope for his safety harness. He tore the rotator cuff in his shoulder and required surgery. Despite his injury he was able to avoid falling off the roof which is a good thing because I have heard of injuries that are caused by falling with a harness attached to you. In addition, even OSHA admits that many of the OSHA laws require exposure to danger just to set up the safety equipment. Any comments or statistics that you know of about this subject. Asking OSHA would be a certain dead end. If anyone could prove thy were causing accidents rather than preventing them it would cost OSHA their jobs. So even if they know they certainly won’t tell. Thanks.

Worker compensation claim in these cases is a must.

I was just wondering how many cases are out there where injuries occurs and goes un reported to the fear of losing there jobs. I have known a few who refuse not to report it cause they were afraid of losing there job. I am pretty sure there are some cases that are out there that go unreported. Just wondering.

I’m sorry to hear what happened to your friend Don. As Robert Taylor pointed out, consulting a personal injury lawyer is usually free and they’d be able to tell you whether or not your friend is entitled to compensation.
