. It is time we take action to protect our children by strengthening shopping cart safety standards with requirements that will more effectively prevent tip-overs and falls from shopping carts.”

How about it be time for the parents take the action to protect their children while in the carts. Have them sit in the seat and use the retraints that are alreadyh provided instead of allowing them to stand and jump around in the carts.

That would require too much effort. We only know how to make rules, not enforce them. Although it wasn’t mentioned in this study, I suspect that the increase in smartphones had something to do with this (i.e. texting, social media, and browsing online on the go). New hazard = distracted parenting.

Many parents these days do not pay close attention to their kids Instead, they are too busy on the cell phone while shopping. I see it all the time in grocery stores and shopping malls.
