I would like for you as well as many other stand corrected about Hurricane Katrina. New Orleans,was flooded by the water because they were on the west side of the storm. From Pearlington to Ocean Springs Ms the entire coasts was wiped out. So in future comments please remember the Mississippi coast. Many people where killed and many many homes totally washed away.
New Orleans was flooded due to broken levees caused from water being pushed in the mouth of the Mississippi River. Not from a direct hit by Hurricane Katrina. Everything from the Mississippi State line east was destroyed. Bay St. Louis and Waveland were almost completely wiped off the map. 8 years later there are still driveways going no where along Hwy. 90 from Waveland to Pascagoula. That is one storm people will never recover from.
