If the act was deliberate, then shame on that Wal-Mart. There should be consequences — in addition to losing business — for such intentional acts. The Wal-Mart store I frequent has the card machines positioned so that all customers can use them.
Now that WalMart has heard this complaint, why would they not agree to make the changes (maybe gradually)so as to prevent any loss of business?

Like most things in life, it all comes down to money; how much will it cost to retro-fit the POS machines vs. the cost-benefit. It would be intersting to know exactly how many disabled customers frequent their stores un-assisted. If they have a friend or relative with them this shouldn’t be an issue. Everyone is supportive of making things accessble for the disabled, but everyone isn’t willing to pay for it.
