I don’t believe it is right to ask someone for a personal password. I wouldn’t have a problem logging in and letting someone else take a look. I understand the types of things that they are looking for but no one should be asked to give out a personal password
Nope. No. My reason is that my Facebook profile is strictly personal and I make that clear to friends requesting that I join their professional networks on that site.
Even so, I’m not giving private information to total strangers, no matter whether they’re offering me a job or not. I don’t know who’s actually going to be looking around in there or what they’ll do. This to me seems another case of taking advantage of those looking for work. This doesn’t ring any EEOC bells?
this is such an invasion of privacy! i would not consent to this, much less signing something that says i cannot say anything bad about a company on a social media site. i mean if i got fired from a job, i would not have a good reference, so why should i not be able to speak about my experience?
I have always told my son to be careful of what he posts on facebook. I guess I was wise in doing so. Things that are written in anger, pictures from a party that you think are funny at the time, can all come back to haunt you and prevent you from getting that “dream” job in the future. Is it right? Maybe not, but when you put your life out there, you have to expect people to take advantage of it. Okay, I’m getting off my “mom” soapbox now, lol.
We have updated our privacy policy to be more clear and meet the new requirements of the GDPR. By continuing to use our site, you accept our revised Privacy Policy.

What if you don’t have a FB or Twitter account?

And if an applicant isn’t on Facebook?
