Automobile racing is inherently dangerous and always will be. Anyone who does it understands and assumes the risk, that’s what makes it thrilling for them. Unlike Dale Earnhardt who was a jerk behind the wheel and drove recklessly throughout his career, Wheldon was a professional driver with common sense and respect for his sport. When you get behind the wheel of a machine with an open cockpit and go 225MPH with dozens of others chasing the $5,000,000 pot, something has to give. Deal with it or get out of it.
