Since when does and automaker have to only pay half the cost of repairing their faulty equipment? They should be required to recall and fix it like everyone else.

My 2007 Envoy Denali was fixed under the factory warranty, BUT, the 3 prior GM vehicles I owned before it had the same problem dating back to a 1987 Suburban. It stalled on a railroad track!
My mechanic has told me it’s been a problem for quite some time and includes premium vehicles like Corvettes. I had a 1999 Tahoe and a 2001 Silverado that had this problem. It’s amazing that GM is finally fessing up to having a problem – probably due to saving 2 cents in the manufacturing process for these $40K + vehicles!

I agree. What the heck is going on here? Faulty fuel gauge = safety issue. Why is GM getting away with only 1/2 the cost? So I own a vehicle, it has a manufacturing defect which could definitely be a hazard and yet I have to pay 1/2 the cost to repair?
    I don’t get it.

why 2005 and newer — what about my 2003 GMC Envoy which now has ALL the gauges not working?? Why would a company not find that a hazard. If your car overheats… how is one to know – the gauge does not work. If the Batter over charges and burns up your electrical system??? If the Oil pressure goes cocoo??? Not their fault huh.. they made the product why not stand behind it and fix it!! I guess I will not buy any more GMS products.. I guess HONDA would be the better buy as it’s made in the US and they do Recalls.
