NSF Launches New Distributor Certification Program

July 28, 2011

NSF International announced the launch of a new certification program that closes the gap in the supply chain between part manufacturers and body shops.

Intended to meet the needs of collision repair shops, insurers and consumers; the program requires distributors to have quality management systems in place that address traceability, service and quality issues with both certified and non-certified parts.

The Automotive Body Parts Association (ABPA) worked closely with NSF to develop the Automotive Aftermarket Collision Parts Distributor Certification Program to meet critical supply chain requirements, including parts traceability.

NSF certified distributors will be required to have records and inventory tracking systems, giving the industry the ability to track defective part complaints and trace parts from the manufacturer through the distribution channel to the body shop.
