That’s great news! However, the major concerns remain:
1. for the Mexican trucks, compliance with all DOT regulations
2. for the US trucks bound for Mexico with sensitive (or expensive) loads and also driver safety, how will Mexico gurantee the safe delivery from cartels, gangs, or other opportunistic groups?
Wallmart will soon open a HUGE TRUCKING TERMINAL in Mexico and HIRE ALL OF ITS DRIVERS from MEXICO at LOWER THAN US MINIMUM WAGE and have ALL OF ITS GOOD transported by “ALWAYS THE LOW WAGE” MEXICAN drivers her in the USA. Which, in turn will allow me to pay EVEN LESS for my Walmart stuff. I LOVE WALMART! Soon, they will be CHEAPER than the DOLLAR STORE. I can only hope that ALL American Trucking companies set up terminals in Mexico and hire low wage Mexican drivers, in that way ALL of the STUFF we Americans need to buy will be CHEAPER! Outsource, Insource, as long as it saves me money I LOVE IT… Oh, and as long as those “displaced” American workers can still afford to pay for INSURANCE… Yea, what happens when displaced American workers can’t earn enough to pay for insurance? I never thought about that… Maybe this outsourcing and insourcing to find the cheapest labor ISN’T such a good thing?
Speaking of “insurance”; what IS the insurance requirement??? How will compliance and collectability of Mexican based truckers be handled? I’m guessing this won’t be important untill someone important gets killed.
The Mexican drivers and trucking firms will be “insured” by the same insurance company that provided the PRODUCT LIABILITY COVERAGE for the CHINESE DRYWALL MANUFACTURERS in China. I think the carrier is: Butkis Mutual…
Anything for the LOW PRICE. It won’t be long before “child Labor” is fasionable again!
