An expert helps most who is called upon early. I have been retained as an expert after discovery cut off only to find that certain simple discovery that was not done would have made it easier to reach a valid opinion and failure to obtain the discovery made it impossible for me to testify one way or the other.

Lawyers and insurers that wait to the last moment to retain an expert to save money if case settles are penny wise and dollar foolish.

Experts need to be called in ASAP…Whether it’s liability defense or possible subrogation!!! Big expensive long winded reports many not be needed and that expense can be controlled. Use of local qualified experts can also hold down expenses. KMD.

An attorney handicaps himself or herself if they do not use an expert early on to guide discovery especially after Daubert. Too much of, “Penny wise and pound foolish” in many cases and not understanding that there are other models besides “dueling experts.”
