The bottomline is this idea would take a bite out of the inflated egos and pockets of both and they’ll fight like hell to protect their antiquated processes.
The “big 3” haven’t learned anything from the recent economic crisis. They keep producing recycled models of the past; the mustang, the GTO, the charger, the camaro to name a few. Their engineering can’t compete with foreign DESIGN. Since most vehicles are manufactured in America anyway, they aren’t “foreing cars” that have to imported. They may be “foreign designed”, but they’re built here. Why does the Ford commercial with the idiot in the ballcap have to mention and berate Honda instead of focusing (no pun) on thee crappy Ford? Pretty pathetic.
