On July 5th, 2003 I was in a horrible crash. An old man pulled out in front of me while I was going 36mph. He was attempting to make an illegal left hand turn, and found me instead. We hit so hard that he bounced off of me, and ended up behind me. They estimated he’d gunned his truck, and hit me at 20mph, which brings the wreck to an impact of 56mph. MORE than enough to deploy my airbags. He hit my front passenger side, bounced off, and ended up straight behind me. He hit right where the sensors are in the front… and yet, nada. I was seriously injured. I had had back surgery roughly 2 months before the wreck. It destroyed everything, and I’m still suffering to this day! Ugh. I ordered a full investigation into why the airbags failed. They came up with nothing. I slammed my head into the steering wheel, and YES, I was wearing my seatbelt. It saved me that day, NO thanks to the non deploying airbags.
