To Gregory Buppert, the plaintiff’s lawyer of this group…..I want to be a juror when you take your case to trial so I see how you like the taste of crow (your bird of choice) when you can’t prove-up your outlandish allegations against BP. What a scum bag.
P.S. I like Cassandra’s comments, too.
I’m curious to see how this will play out in court since the environmental groups are filing a claim for damages caused to a third party, the animals, and not themselves.
Birds die after hitting the windows of my office building on a regular basis. Maybe I need to file a claim against the window manufacturer and the property owner on behalf of the birds for damages and ongoing harm?
If some species were “endangered” before that means somebody has been wasting money trying to artificially maintain their existence. If they aren’t sturdy enough to survive and serve no useful purpose to humans let them die out. We have enough human being issuess to deal with and why waste resources on birds and fish most people never knew existed and could care less about. Don’t mean to sound in-sensitive, but this money could be better spent enriched human lives.
My opinion: Had our government taken the reins on this from day one by seeking and using all worldwide resources that were available – and offered, as Chile did with the miners, that oil spill would probably have been contained before it reached the coast and affected so many animals as well as human livelihoods. Sadly, from the beginning of the crisis, our leadership chose to reject offers of help and instead play the blame game while we all watched the spill drift towards, and reach the coasal wtlands and beaches. It seems that to them, bashing a corporation was more important than containing the spill to minimize damage and, so once again, priorities gave way to political agendas.
Useful purposes to humans come in many forms. You need to broaden your perspective. But I do agree there is an enormous waste of money on stuff like that.
Dear Presumptive Cassandra:
No, I would never advocate shooting wolves or any other animal from airplanes. I like animals and would never intentionally harm any of them. I do however, think comes a time when we stop allocating precious resources to keep them around just for posterity. What are talking about here anyway? Some pelicans and some fish. Neither make good pets, coats, shoes, or food. (OK maybe some fish) But if we’re going to drill for oil, there are no guarantee’s this kind of think won’t continue to occur. Unfortunate, but reality. And no, I don’t contribute to “save the whales” either.
Yeah, well i do want the pelicans around. Long after the technology has moved on, we will be still on this planet. If this country spent 1/8 the resources, tax policy monies lost, payroll for regulators, etc., etc., etc., on alternative fuels and better delivery, we would not be having this debate. The resource is FINITE; sooner or later, it will be gone. Betcha if you were in PA where they want to rip up the earth to get shale out of dirt you would have a different perspective. How much depoliation must we endure before we wise up?
You all have a very smug attitude that the only creature on this earth that has standing is homo sapiens…and every other creature is for our use.
And if you approve of shooting wolves from helicopters, I surely hope there is a special kind of hell for you.

Oh great, now BP will have to divert clean up funds to pay lawyers in the court case. Way to go!
That depends on who is cleaning the pelican.
