fraud? racketeering charges? i think the gov’t is just trying to make things worse. we do know that BP went online before it had all the safety features online and ready. but that is not fraud it’s not racketeering, its just bad news for safety and in this case a dangerous outlook on the environment and local economy.
If BP was really concerned about liability costs they would do more to clean up their mess. News footage today showed huge amounts of black oil washing up on previously white SW Fla. beaches.
There were a couple of clean up workers
visible over what appeared to be about 1/2 mile of beach. Why didn’t BP have 1000 employees deployed in this area?

Their secondary sources would also be in the gulf. Who, say in the seafood industry, had the foresight to plan for an entire region to be shut down.
This is not the governments fault, although the State Governments that want to keep deep water drilling going will be screaming for more federal assistance should another unforeseen disaster occur.
Agreed, I’m interested to know on what ground TN or GA feel entitled to bring a suit.
The impact on the seafood industry as a whole is actually quite minimal. So while the fishing economies in the coastal areas is destroyed, the larger seafood economy won’t hardly notice a change in prices because 98% of shrimp and other seafood come from elsewhere
Obama is the trial lawyer’s best friend, he has a direct vested interest in promoting lawsuits against BP.
Obama is out to maximize claims and damages, not mitigate the loss, he’s the plaintiff’s attorney, if he could send everybody on the gulf coast in for “heat treatments” and “psychological counseling” he would.
He’s not interested in plugging the leak or rig safety, his mission is income & wealth redistribution, ther oil leak is just a convenient excuse to steal BP’s assets.
When this leak exploded he didn’t call exxon & ask for the best solution, he called the guys still litigating the XOM Valdez & asked “how can I maximize claims?” and then acted accodingly.
The lawyers said shut down drilling and fishing -even in uncontaminated areas to maximize losses-and claims against BP.
I’m amazed. I think most of you must work for BP. You’re basically arguing against holding BP accountable for their lack of attention to safety and lack of concern for those who have been displaced–fishing industry and otherwise (e.g., property owners–by this mess. They didn’t ask to be in that situation. BP failed its duty as a good corporate citizen. And here some of you are, almost praising BP. Disgusting.
