I have noticed thatthe state governor has his own investigation. I would caution that some investigations look for a reason to reform and some just look to justify management decisions. We will see in a few years which one of these investigations bring about reform and which is in the back pocket of the mining lobby.

As usual, it all comes down to a cost-benefit analysis. How much will it cost and how much will it save? FACT: Mines will never be safe. This one had survival pods that made no difference because nobody made it to them. Even under the best circumstances, they are prone to explosions. There are too many uncontrollable variables to think they’ll ever be safe.
