This information is surprisingly similar to another automaker. Does anyone recall the Ford Pinto??? Ford did the same thing in the 70’s, becoming the basis for a fiction movie released in 1994 regarding the same type of activities, Class Action, starring Gene Hackman and Mary Elizabeth Mastroantonio.
Will they never learn that corporations bear a moral and ethical responsibility for disclosure to the consumer?? Only time will tell if this does permanent harm to Toyota as the dominant carmaker in this country. It has taken a generation for Ford to rebound from their debacle.
Maybe someone should send Mr. Toyoda a copy of the 1994 book by Douglas Birsch and John Fiedler called “The Ford Pinto case: A Study in Applied Ethics, Business and Technology”. Interesting reading…
