For the record, both the Tacoma and the Corolla and I think the Matrix are built at the UNION NUMMI plant in Fremont (scheduled for closure).
Can’t tell if the union manufactured Toyotas are exempt from recall, but it doesn’t seem so.

Lawsuits like this are the root of all evil. Just get a job and work for a living the way we are suppose to jack-asses.

the relationship toyota has with its employees is world renowned. that is why they have such an amazing car making reputation. a union would only ruin toyota, like it is in the process of doing to us car makers. you are sadly mistaken and misguided.

I wish I could have sued Ford for the devaluation of my Exployer when they started rolling over and killing people. Gee Rosie, the Exployers were made by union labor – guess that idea of yours doesn’t hold up.

I own a Mercury and a Toyota now. It is the first time I’ve owned a Toyota in over 30 years – I usually buy Fords and Mercurys. At least Toyota has the decency to take agressive action on the problem instead of hiding and arguing about it as the Big 3 usually do. I hope the Big 3 learn something good from the way in which Toyota is handling this situation. Toyota will fix the problem, people will regain confidence and the values will be little effected – use the Ford Exployer for an example. I hope these attorneys spend a ton of their money and the judge gives them nothing.

What muttonhead would buy a car with the express intent of selling it at the max value available?

Maybe I’m the muttonhead. I tend to buy cars and drive them into the ground. In this instance, maybe the ground is coming up to meet the average Toyota owner. I own two; one is a top-line 99 Avalon and the other an 05 Highlander with 150,000 miles on each, and the 99 is still the best car I’ve ever owned.

Just out of curiosity – if Toyota has to pay off the class action lawsuits on secondary market devaluation, if and when Toyota’s problems are solved, do they get equity or something back for the improvement in the value (other than better sales figures)?

“if you went to sell your car today, it’s worth a lot less than it was two weeks ago.”

One problem, all the other maker’s cars resale value has fallen even faster.

If your property value has gone down – do like many in my area are doing where we’ve been recently revalued – file a property tax appeal. Why let the pols collect on over-valued real estate?
