I can’t help but wonder what the difference is between talking on a hands free device and talking to a passenger, listening to a talk radio show, singing along to a song on the radio or listening to kids fight in the backseat? While I believe dialing and texting are obviously dangerous because it takes your eyes off of the road, I cannot understand how hands free is any different then what I listed above. Maybe we need to realize that it is our failure to pay attention when we are driving that is the problem. Anyone else with me on this? I never hear how hands free is any different then other distractions in the vehicle that are regular every day occurrences like those I mentioned. I would love to see a study/comparison of the hands free verses having passengers and/or the radio on.

I’m with you. If you are easily distracted from the primary objective of getting to your destination safely then you should turn all of the distracting devices off and ride by yourself.
