The car should be put into neutral if the pedal becomes stuck. In these cars, the brakes do not override the accelerator, so they will do nothing if it is stuck.

This is completely false. EVERY car on the road today has brakes that will bring the car to a complete stop, even if the accelerator is wide open. You can try it yourself safely. From a stop, apply your brakes with your left foot. While keeping brakes engaged, press on the gas with your right foot. The car won’t move forward. The brakes will also stop a car that is moving. If you put the car in neutral at WOT, you risk blowing the engine.
