My two Golden Retrievers are big family babies, tail wagging and frolicking around, they do not know a stranger.

But let them sense a threat to me or my kids and both of them will be on you like white on rice. I have seen it happen several times. But all it takes is for me or my kids to call them down and they are right by our side.

Were they trained for this. NO!

I do not have the slightest idea where they got the protection streak from.

Am I glad it is there. You bet your ***!
I know those two babies will protect me and my kids even if it cost them their life.

Would I have it any other way?

    HELL NO!

I saw a study done once, kind of a survey of burglars. All said they could get past a deadbolt lock, but none would take a chance with a dog barking on the other side of the door. Two big problems:

    1. Noise of barking alerting neighbors.
    2. TEETH!

I agree with you; we had an English Cocker who was pretty menacing to me when I walked in until he figured out I was the guy who fed him…
