I always thought that Cyclones were in Asian waters, Typhoons were in the Pacific & Hurricanes were in the Atlantic. I’m sooooo confused!!!

The US NHC is going to send a plane into this “weather system” to see if this may become a hurricane? You have got to be kidding me. I guess we have so much money with Obama printing it that we can just fly planes for no reason. They can’t stop it from becoming a hurricane and they can warn people nearby now that it may result in one. What a waste of tax payer money during these times. Again, Idiots!!

A tropical cyclone is any storm associated with a swirling wind pattern with sustained wind speeds above a certain point (39 mph, i think).

If wind speeds are between 39 and 72 mph, it’s a tropical storm and gets a “name.”

If wind speeds exceed 73 mph, it is a hurricane or typhoon. Hurricanes are in the Atlantic or Eastern pacific. Typhoons are in the Western Pacific.

“SO CHANGE your attitude that everything is driven because of a president.”

Indeed. So tired of reading comments on IJ with everyone blaming everything on our President.

You’d think after Katrina that disaster preparedness would be a good thing, no?

Besides, this takes place every hurricane season.

well, i see that you have no clue about these planes we send in. this is a reserve unit that does this and they do it every year. it keeps their quals up as well as helping the weather servcie with data. so OBAMA is not printing money, besides if you understood, this was already allotted into the budget from the previous year. SO CHANGE your attitude that everything is driven because of a president.

I agree we can’t blame this on Obama.

I must say that the media and the Democrats constandly & relentlessly blamed everything on Bush. And they still continue to blame things, 9 months later, on Bush. Bottom line is Obama hasn’t done anything but play partisan politics and the main stream media has nothing good to report other than to do Obama damage control.

The real cyclone that’s coming is the damage that will be done by borrowing from future generations, and socializing businesses, healthcare, and now the attempt to storm control the internet!!!
