Just what is needed in the claims business. Another lawyer is lauded and elevated to a high ranking position with apparently (at least according to the article) no insurance operational experience. I’m sure Mr. Young is a fabulous guy, knows the law and plays a mean game of golf but whether or not and how that qualifies him to be a claims executive defies logic. Good luck, Harleysville.

The world has clearly gone mad. A plaintiff attorney is put in charge of a P&C claims operation. I’m sure this guy brings a wealth of claims expertise from his former law firms. Funny how rats run for higher ground when their own ship starts to sink.

I’ll bet this was a real morale boost for all the real claims professionals at Harleysville who wanted to be considered for this position. What a slap in the face. Now people who work for a living have to report to a re-tread lawyer with no P&C or claims background.
