Lawyers and the courts like to apply “standards”. Would penicillin come to market in today’s legal atmosphere, if it had to follow all these rules?

In our current legal atmosphere US companies have much more exposure to legal recourse than foreign companies. So for example, companies in China can ship melamine and not be exposed to “our legal beagles”. All that happens is China gets told not to ship any more.

I think if any government wants to regulate an area the government should have equal responsibility and liability. I think competent government means good regulations, good dispute resolution, and good enforcement.

Whoops, I forgot our government could not even detect a small trillion dollar economical problem.
