Navy Blames Crew, Command for Fire Aboard Carrier

    Another example of people failing to do the right thing and the taxpayers cleaning up their mess in the form of $70,000,000 that could have been put to use somewhere. Was the commander and those in charge of the firefighting unit discharged for derelection of duty? Were their pensions forfeited? I stongly doubt it. It’s a sad day for humanity when the U.S. military allows it’s personnel to violate procedures.

    I worked in damage control on a carrier (USS Constellation) when I was in the Navy. The mandate was simple: A place for everything and everyting in it’s place. Not a single C.O. that I worked under would have tolerated the slightest variance from that. Too may lives and $$$ were at stake. I’m sure a few swabbies are pulling bread and water duty in the brig because of that.
